5 SIMPLE FIXES FOR SPRING

INDOOR

1.      Change out those Drapes.

Summer always calls for a little light heartedness. Select lighter weight and colored drapes to soften your look. You can also go more casual with linen drapes in your bedroom. Of course, if you décor calls for a formal look, you can always select a lighter colored silk. Draperies also help with light filtering which can decrease your power bill. So consider this if you have yet to hang your drapes.

2.      Change out your Pillows

Switching out your pillows from season to season is the fastest change you can make. Pillows are one of the most inexpensive items you can purchase for your home. To save space only purchase pillow covers, and save your inserts. Again choose pillows that are lighter versions of the colors you already have to create that light and airy feel.

3.      Purge, Purge, Purge

I cannot stress the importance of decluttering enough. We you declutter, you free up space to really enjoy your home. Things will feel cleaner and a lot more lighthearted. I recently reorganized my closet, and I was shocked at the amount of clothing I needed to get rid of. Most of which I had not worn in 3 years. Be tough and TOSS IT OUT.

OUTDOOR

4.      Dress up your Door

Add a fresh coat of paint to your front door. A door should only take a quart of paint to freshen up. Consider the exterior of your home when selecting a new color. Also research door meanings just for fun. For example, a green front door represents health, community, and safety, while a blue front door represents prosperity and positivity. Add a classic boxwood wreath on your door to liven things up.

5.      Plant some Low Maintenance Flowers

Whether you intend to pot or plant your flowers. Add some greenery and florals to your curb appeal. Some low maintenance flowers include Sedums, Coneflowers, and Hardy Hibiscus. Hire help if you need to. Gardening can be tasking. I know being a plant mom is on everyone’s list, but take a parenting class first. Also check out your local hardware stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot for some nice planters.
